Where they differ

AutoCheck publishes a lower single-check price than MotorFile's Full Vehicle Check, lists more categories, including colour changes and a high-risk status that MotorFile does not offer, and publishes a data guarantee with conditions. MotorFile has no guarantee. MotorFile's standard check is free, and the Full Vehicle Check is one price per vehicle.

If you would like written cover, read the guarantee terms in full, including what you must do to activate it, before you rely on it.

What they share

Both report stolen, write-off, outstanding finance, mileage and plate-change records for a UK registration. Both are reports of what databases hold at the time, and neither replaces looking over the car and checking the V5C in person.
